LIGHTHOUSE (ILLUSTRATIONS OF A RECURRING THOUGHT)

Lighthouse is inspired by astronomical illustrations of the pulsar in the Crab Nebula, a supernova remnant. A pulsar is a rotating neutron star with a powerful magnetic field, that radiates something like a lighthouse. The pulsar in the Crab Nebula rotates 30 times per second, and if the Earth happens to be in the way of the spinning beam, we will see a flash of light for each rotation. Through ten drawings I have illustrated the pulse of radiation successively.
