About/
Merete Joelsen Aune (born 1984, Oslo) is a visual artist based in Oslo, Norway. Her artistic practice combines aspects of natural science and fiction, to explore poetic connections between nature and consciousness. Interior worlds are observed via the lens of astronomy in meticulously drawn celestial spheres or in imitations of astronomical environments in visual or written form. Her new work, Journal, merges words and fragments from John Herschel’s 19th-century astronomic observations with her own personal diary notes, to create a mirrored record of her inner phenomena.
Aune holds a master's degree from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and has a background in Art History studies from the University of Bergen. She recently took part in exhibitions at Drammen Museum (2020), Kunstforeningen Verdens Ende (2019), Cosmoscow (2017), House of Foundation (2017) and Tegnerforbundet (2016).
